A little preparation

Before you start

  • For the app method, the correct OfficeJet already added to the HP app.

Use ink estimates to plan, not as an exact measurement

The printer calls these estimated levels. A low-ink indication helps you prepare a replacement; it is not a precise measurement of the remaining liquid. HP says you do not need to replace a cartridge merely because an estimate is low—wait for the relevant prompt or investigate poor output.

Step 1:Open Supplies → Ink Cartridges

From the Home screen, swipe to the right and open Supplies. Select Ink Cartridges to see the individual supply levels. Tap a cartridge if you need its additional details, rather than treating the combined overview as an exact percentage.

Step 2:Check the selected printer in the HP app

Open the HP app and make sure this OfficeJet is the selected printer. Its home screen displays estimated supply levels in the source. If the printer is missing or unavailable, restore the normal connection before relying on an old app status.

The source also visits Printer Settings → View All → Advanced Settings to open the printer’s web interface. That visit shows cartridge details after sign-in but does not successfully display the supply estimate; use the touchscreen or app overview if the browser view is empty.

Step 3:Read the separate printhead status

Return to Supplies on the touchscreen and select Printhead. The supporting video shows a status of OK and installation information. Read the actual status shown by your own unit.

A little extra help

Questions & troubleshooting

The phone and touchscreen show slightly different levels.

Both displays are estimates. The source itself shows a small difference; do not infer an exact remaining page count or a faulty cartridge from that difference alone.

Printhead says OK but my output is poor.

An OK status is not a complete print-quality test. Check the paper and job settings and use the appropriate print-quality diagnostic procedure rather than buying a printhead based only on its age.
