Before you start
- Paper and ink installed.
- For these phone print/scan methods, the iPhone and printer on the same network with this printer selected in the HP app. Copying itself needs no phone or Wi-Fi.
Step 1:Make a copy without the phone
Load plain paper in the rear tray with the side to be printed facing up, move the width guide to the edge without bending the stack, and open the output tray and extension. Place the original face down on the scanner glass, aligned with its marked corner and engraved guides, then close the lid.
Press Black Copy or Color Copy for the desired output. To request more copies, press the same button repeatedly and quickly while watching the display; the maximum count is 9. Wait for the sheet to exit completely and compare it with the original. Press Cancel if you need to stop the active copy.
Step 2:Print a document or photo from the HP app
Open the HP app and select this printer. Choose Print Documents or Print Photos, then select the file. Open the print preview and review the actual paper size, desired page range, colour and quality before sending it. A4 and Letter are different sizes; select what is loaded.
The source uses a one-page test document. Submit the job, wait for the sheet and check that the intended pages printed. A higher-quality setting is an option rather than proof that a low-resolution source gains detail.
Step 3:Or use iPhone’s own Print command
In an app that supports printing, open the file and use Share → Print. Select the DeskJet, check its options and choose Print. The source demonstrates AirPrint discovery on the same home network. If it is missing, check the selected network and printer rather than resetting a working connection.
Step 4:Scan the original through the printer
Place the side to be scanned face down at the glass mark and close the lid. In the HP app select Scan using the printer, rather than Camera scan. Start the scan and wait for the page preview.
If you need another page, replace the original on the glass and choose Scan another or Add page. Review each page’s crop and orientation. Automatic edge detection is a starting point; adjust it if any important content is missing. These recordings complete one page and explain the add-page control.
Step 5:Save the PDF and check it in Files
Finish the scan preview, open Share or Save, and select PDF for a document. Choose Continue, then View more if needed to reach Save to Files in the iPhone share sheet. Select a destination folder and save.
Open the saved PDF from Files and check all intended pages. The scan preview alone is not a saved file. Optional OCR, Word conversion or other editing features are not needed for this basic PDF workflow and may vary by account or app version.
