Step 1:Read the two cartridge icons
On the display, the left ink-level icon represents the colour cartridge and the right represents black. Read them alongside any warning icon, E code and app message. A blinking indicator can mean a cartridge problem as well as low ink; it is not by itself a reason to buy a replacement.
Step 2:Check the selected printer in the HP app
Open the HP app and select the connected DeskJet. The source displays estimated ink levels on the printer’s main page. Confirm you selected the intended printer before relying on the information. If the app cannot reach it, resolve that connection rather than interpreting a missing estimate as empty ink.
Step 3:Optionally inspect the local supply-status page
For more cartridge details, open Settings → Advanced Settings from the selected printer. In the source, View all exposes Advanced Settings; the local page then provides Tools → Utilities → Product Information and Supply Status. Interface labels can vary.
Confirm the page belongs to your own printer before entering a default PIN or changed administrator password. A local printer page can use a certificate the browser does not recognise, but an unrelated or unexpected address should not be trusted just because the video dismisses a warning.
Use the estimate for planning
HP describes these indicators as estimates. A refilled, remanufactured or previously used cartridge can show an unavailable or inaccurate level. Have a suitable replacement ready when ink is low, then assess actual print quality and any printer message.
The source’s explanation of a particular estimation calculation and broad claim about cartridge life are not established by this demonstration. The guide does not convert a bar display into an invented percentage or page count.
