A little preparation

Before you start

  • A phone with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled.
  • Epson Smart Panel, published by Epson, installed from your phone’s app store.
  • Your printer’s own password label and the password for your home Wi-Fi.

Connect the printer through Epson Smart Panel

This video starts with an already prepared printer and connects it to Wi-Fi. It does not demonstrate unpacking, filling the tanks or the first ink charge. The phone shown is an iPhone; the presenter also names Android, whose permission screens may differ.

Step 1:Start pairing mode on the printer

Turn the printer on with Power. Hold the Wi-Fi button for a few seconds, until the two Wi-Fi lights flash alternately. Keep that pairing state active while you start the app.

Step 2:Open Epson Smart Panel and allow discovery

With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled on your phone, open Epson Smart Panel. Review and accept its terms to continue. Follow the prompts allowing location access while using the app and access to devices on your local network. Notification permission is optional in the recording.

Step 3:Choose Set up a new product

Choose Set up a new product and Continue. Allow device discovery when prompted, then select the Epson EcoTank it finds. Proceed to Wi-Fi connection settings and choose Next.

Step 4:Enter the printer’s password first

When the app asks for the printer password, look for the password sticker inside the front panel, as shown. Check the other printer labels if it is not there. Enter your own printer’s value and choose OK.

This is not your home router password. Do not copy the example value from the video.

Step 5:Choose your network and enter its Wi-Fi password

Confirm that the network offered by the app is your intended home Wi-Fi and continue. At the Wi-Fi password prompt, enter that network’s password. Check the connection information, then confirm Yes. A router sticker may show the original network password; use your current password if it has been changed.

Step 6:Keep the phone nearby until setup finishes

Keep the phone awake and close to the printer while the app completes the connection. The demonstration describes roughly two minutes. Wait for the connection-complete prompt and a steady upper Wi-Fi light, then choose OK to reach the Smart Panel dashboard.

A little extra help

Questions & troubleshooting

Epson Smart Panel cannot find the printer. What does the video suggest?

Check that the printer is still in pairing mode with alternating Wi-Fi lights. The presenter then suggests turning the printer off and on, starting pairing again and reinstalling Epson Smart Panel before repeating setup.

Why does setup ask for two passwords?

The first authenticates to the printer using its own password label. The later prompt connects it to your home network using the Wi-Fi router’s network password. They are different credentials.

Does this include initial ink filling?

No. The source begins with a prepared printer and demonstrates wireless connection through the phone app.
