Use the cable route demonstrated on Mac

Have the printer’s initial setup completed and load paper. Use a compatible data-capable USB printer cable between the rear printer port and the Mac. If the Mac has only USB-C, use a suitable data adapter or cable; the source uses an adapter.

The presenter identifies the printer as 5107. The recording demonstrates macOS; it does not show the same Windows screens or prove every operating-system version has the same driver support. Keep the ink-tank printer level when reaching the rear connection.

Step 1:Connect the printer and select it

With the printer powered on, attach the USB cable securely at both ends. Open the document on the Mac and choose its Print command. Select the connected HP Smart Tank rather than another installed printer.

If it is missing, check cable/data-adapter connections and the Mac’s Printers & Scanners settings. Use HP’s exact 5107 support page with your actual operating system for any required supported software. A firmware updater is not a replacement print driver, and the first search result is not a trustworthy software-selection rule.

Review paper size, orientation and page range, then print. Wait for the sheet to finish and check its contents. The source prints a short document and then uses that same sheet as its scan original; no router connection is demonstrated for this cable task.

Step 3:Open the connected scanner

Place the original face down on the glass against its marked alignment corner and close the lid. In the recording, the presenter opens Print Center, selects the HP printer and its Scanner control.

Apple’s documented alternative is System Settings → Printers & Scanners → the printer → Open Scanner. If that button is unavailable, check scanner setup and supported software rather than assuming successful printing also installed every scan component.

Step 4:Select the area and save the actual scan

Review the scan area so it includes the full document. Choose a destination using Scan To and the available size/format settings, then start Scan. The source shows a returned scan image; reopen the file in your chosen destination to confirm your own saved result.

A preview or an old overview image is not necessarily the new saved scan. Check the page content and filename before removing the original or disconnecting the cable.
