Before you start
- Working 2.4GHz home Wi-Fi and its current password.
- Printer initial ink and printhead setup completed; no unresolved printer error.
Prepare the printer and the intended home network
Use a working 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and have its current password ready. Connect the iPhone to the intended home network, enable Bluetooth for discovery and install the official HP app from HP. Bluetooth helps setup; it is not the printing connection.
If the printer already has a steady blue Wi-Fi light and uses the correct network, try adding an existing printer instead of resetting it. The same home network lets devices discover it, but a light alone does not prove every app is configured or a print job will finish.
Step 1:Find the printer in the HP app
With the printer in Wi-Fi setup mode, choose Add device, then the option to set up and connect a new printer and Launch setup. This is the setup option even when an older printer has just had its network reset.
Select the detected Smart Tank. If it is absent, check that the printer is awake, Wi-Fi setup mode is active, Bluetooth is enabled and the app has the local-network permissions it requests. Keep the phone and printer near the router while setting up.
Step 2:Check the selected network and enter its password
Confirm the network shown is the router network you intend the printer to join. Enter that network’s current Wi-Fi password, then continue. A router label is useful only if its credentials have not been changed; it is not the printer’s administrator PIN or Wi-Fi Direct password.
Step 3:Press Information only when the app asks
When the app requests confirmation of your proximity, press and release the flashing Information button once. Wait while it prepares the printer, obtains an IP address and completes the connection.
The source shows the blue Wi-Fi light becoming steady and the app reporting that the connection finished. Continue through the remaining app prompts and read account, privacy and update choices individually. A registration error is not automatically proof that every setup requirement succeeded.
Step 4:Verify the printer and a small print job
After setup, confirm the correct Smart Tank appears in the app and the blue Wi-Fi light remains steady. Load suitable paper and print a short document, then inspect the output. The recordings skip their offered test pages, so they demonstrate connection and app access rather than a completed test print.
Other household devices must also be on the intended network and have their own printer/app configuration completed. If a device cannot find the printer, check its network and permissions before clearing the printer’s working connection.
