Use this method only with a WPS-capable router
Use a working router with a WPS push button and compatible 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Keep the printer within a usable signal range. If your router has no WPS button or WPS is unavailable, use the HP app setup guide instead.
This is push-button WPS, not a request to type the printer’s administrator PIN. The video shows starting the printer’s mode but does not go to the router or demonstrate a completed WPS connection.
Step 1:Hold the Wi-Fi button for at least 3 seconds
On the awake printer, press and hold Wi-Fi for at least 3 seconds to start WPS. The source first enters support mode with Information, but HP’s WPS procedure starts directly with the Wi-Fi control; support mode is not a required extra reset.
Step 2:Press the router’s WPS button within 2 minutes
Use the router’s documented WPS control within 2 minutes of starting the printer’s WPS mode. Follow the router’s instructions so that you do not accidentally use its Reset control.
Step 3:Wait for connection and add the printer
A successful wireless connection changes the blinking Wi-Fi light to a steady light. On a phone or computer using the same network, open the official HP app and choose Add Printer/Add device to discover it, following the displayed prompts.
Check the selected printer and print a short document. If WPS times out or the light keeps blinking, check router support and range, or switch to the app connection method. Do not treat merely starting WPS as a successful connection.
