Use the same network and the correct scanner
Have the Smart Tank connected to home Wi-Fi and the Mac on the same network. Add the printer/scanner in macOS if it is not already installed. Being on one network helps discovery but does not guarantee every scanner is already configured.
Place the original face down at the glass’s marked corner and close the lid. The source demonstrates a Mac; the video title’s Windows wording is not a demonstration of Windows menus.
Step 1:Open the Mac scanner window
The recording opens Print Center, selects the HP Smart Tank and uses its scanner control. Apple’s documented route is System Settings → Printers & Scanners → the selected printer → Open Scanner.
If Open Scanner is unavailable, check that the scanner was added and use supported software for the actual operating system. Do not select a similarly named printer belonging to another location.
Step 2:Check the overview and output settings
Select the HP scanner if prompted. Let any overview finish, then check the crop or scan area includes the whole original. Choose the available colour, resolution and file-format options appropriate to your document.
Set Scan To to the intended folder. An overview image is for selecting the area; it does not by itself establish a saved scan.
Step 3:Run Scan and confirm the saved result
Use Scan to create the file with your selected settings. After completion, open the destination folder and inspect the saved image or PDF for missing edges, orientation and readable text.
The source shows the returned document image and discusses the destination control, but does not reopen a saved file. Confirm that final step on your Mac before removing the original.
