Prepare one paper size and type

Wait until the printer is no longer printing. Remove any existing paper before switching to a different size or type, and use flat, supported media. Keep the ink-tank printer level if you turn it to reach the rear tray.

The directions below use left and right as seen while facing the front of the printer. The video turns the printer around, so its spoken left/right directions sometimes refer to the opposite viewpoint.

Step 1:Open the input tray and move the guide

Raise the rear input tray. Move the paper-width guide toward the left, leaving room for the stack. Do not load sheets through the front output opening.

Step 2:Insert the stack with its printable side up

Insert the paper in portrait orientation until it stops, with the side to be printed facing up. Do not force it farther into the feed path. For small photo paper, align the stack against the far-right side of the tray, viewed from the front.

Use the paper’s actual size and type when choosing print settings. The source’s estimated stack height and fraction-of-a-sheet insertion depth are not loading specifications.

Step 3:Fit the guide and extend the output tray

Slide the width guide right until it touches the paper’s edge without bending the stack. Pull out the front output-tray extender so it can support the printed sheets.

Step 4:Check the first sheet

Send a single page with settings matching the loaded media and check that it feeds straight. If the printer was paused for lack of paper, resolve the paper condition and press Resume when appropriate.

If pickup fails or a jam is reported, stop adding jobs and identify the reported problem. Do not push the stack deeper into the mechanism to make it feed.
