Identify the everyday controls

Black Copy starts a black-and-white copy; Color Copy starts a colour copy. Information prints the printer’s information page when pressed once in the normal panel state. Load paper before requesting a report.

Resume continues a job after its interruption has been resolved, such as loading paper or clearing a jam. It does not repair the cause itself. The Wi-Fi button toggles ordinary wireless operation; the separate Wi-Fi Direct display icon reports the direct connection’s status.

ID Copy selects the two-sided-card workflow. It does not scan both sides merely because you press that button: HP’s procedure then requires a Copy button for the first side, flipping the card when prompted, and the indicated Copy button for the second side. Use the complete ID-copy instructions in the linked manual.

Step 1:Cancel the current job

Press Cancel, marked X, once while the printer is carrying out the unwanted operation. Wait for the printer to stop and finish moving the paper before removing an ejected sheet.

The separate cancellation recording shows a copy stopping and a partly printed sheet being ejected. This button stops the current operation; it is not a promise that every pending job in a computer or phone queue has been deleted.

Step 2:Read the power light before intervening

A steady power light means the printer is on. An unlit light means it is off; a dimmed light indicates sleep. Ordinary blinking can occur during startup, shutdown or a job and is not, by itself, a fault.

Fast blinking needs a different check: close the front door if it is open. If the door is already closed, HP identifies an error state; read the printer display and the connected device’s error message before deciding on the remedy. Do not treat every rapid blink as harmless activity.

Step 3:Allow shutdown to finish

When you want to turn the printer off, press Power and wait until its light goes out before disconnecting electrical power. HP documents this shutdown precaution to protect the printheads.

The source’s estimated startup and update durations are observations, not fixed limits. A suspected update is not a reason to pull the power cable. Identify the displayed condition rather than repeatedly pressing Power or guessing a reset.

Understand why extra buttons sometimes light up

On this Wi-Fi model, holding Information for at least five seconds enters support mode and illuminates the control-panel buttons. Press Cancel once to leave that mode when no error is present.

Support-mode combinations have different effects: some print reports, while others change copy mode or erase network settings. Use the separate task guide before trying a combination. A network reset is not a general response to an unfamiliar blinking light.
