Before you start
- Access to the printer’s rear power connection.
- A printer remaining on the HP logo and loading dots as described in the source.
The startup symptom in this video
The printer stays on the HP logo with repeated loading dots. The presenter says it has remained there for at least an hour, although he can still pull down the alert panel. His solution is to remove the rear power cable briefly and reconnect it.
Step 1:Allow the startup time described by the presenter
The presenter recommends giving this stalled-looking startup at least an hour before intervening, especially if it follows a software update.
Step 2:Disconnect the rear power cable for 5–10 seconds
For the unchanged HP-logo-and-dots state described, the presenter pulls the power cable from the back of the printer, waits 5–10 seconds, then plugs it back in. This reproduces his timing; it is a power restart, not a factory reset or a settings-erasure sequence.
Step 3:Let it start again and check the screen
Allow the printer to boot after reconnecting power. The presenter reports that it returns to its normal state and says the restart fixed his instance of the problem. Check whether your printer gets beyond the HP logo and loading dots.
If the same screen remains, this video provides no further recovery sequence.
Questions & troubleshooting
Is this a factory reset?
No. The source disconnects and reconnects power. It does not enter a reset menu, select Restore Defaults or deliberately erase saved settings.
