Before you start
- Plain paper in the bottom tray and installed ink cartridges.
- An original suitable for the scanner glass or supported document-feeder paper.
Choose the glass or document feeder
Use the scanner glass for a single sheet or an original that is unsuitable for the feeder. Use the top automatic document feeder for supported loose document pages. The paper in the bottom tray becomes your new copy; it is separate from the original.
Step 1:Place a single original on the scanner glass
Lift the scanner lid. Lay the original face down against the marked corner of the glass—the source points to its small right-angle guide. Close the lid gently. Use the marking, rather than a camera-relative direction, to orient the page.
Step 2:Choose Document Copy and your settings
On the Home screen, tap Copy → Document Copy. Set the number of copies, color or black-and-white mode, quality and sides as needed. For the straightforward copy shown first, keep a one-sided original and one-sided output setting.
Review the selected paper size and the content settings before starting. Higher quality can make the job slower; a larger number of copies uses more sheets.
Step 3:Start and check the new copy
Extend the output tray, start the copy with the screen’s copy/start control and wait for the new sheet. Compare the whole copy with the original: check that the page is not cut off, rotated unexpectedly or missing content. The video shows a completed copy from the glass.
Step 4:Use the document feeder for loose pages
Remove the original from the glass. Put supported loose document originals face up in the top feeder and slide them in until the printer detects them. Adjust the feeder’s guides so they touch the page edges without squeezing.
Choose Copy → Document Copy, review the same settings and start. The feeder draws in the original while the output tray receives its copy. The source demonstrates a completed feeder copy; check page count and order when using a stack.
Questions & troubleshooting
The copy is blank.
Check the original’s orientation: face down on the glass, face up in the top document feeder. The bottom tray is for the new sheet, not the original.
Part of the original is missing.
Align a glass original with the marked corner, check the selected size and scaling, and verify that the original is within the supported scanning area.
