Use an existing Wi-Fi connection

Connect the Mac and printer to the same Wi-Fi network. If the printer is already connected and working, leave its network settings intact. Use the dedicated connection guide only when it actually needs setup.

These instructions cover the Mac workflow shown in the two recordings. The exact macOS version was not established, and control names can differ. A steady wireless light does not prove Internet access.

Step 1:Add the printer in macOS

Open Print Center through Spotlight and choose its add-printer control. Select the intended ENVY from the available printers and choose Add.

Apple’s equivalent current route is System Settings → Printers & Scanners → Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax. Select this printer and add it. AirPrint normally avoids a separate driver download; the recording’s claim that a driver must be downloading is not a demonstrated fact.

Step 2:Open the scanner and place the original

In Print Center, select the ENVY and open its scanner control. Alternatively, in Printers & Scanners select the printer and choose Open Scanner.

Place the original face down on the glass at the marked top-left corner and close the lid. Use the flatbed source; a document-feeder or duplex option in generic macOS help does not establish that feature on this printer.

Step 3:Choose the size, format and destination

Set the scan size to the original. Use Show Details if needed to see the available settings, then choose the format and a suitable resolution for your document.

Apple documents Scan To as the destination control: choose a folder to save there, or an app to open the scan in that app. The source narrator is unsure where its scan is saved; this destination step comes from Apple’s instructions, not a confirmed folder shown in the recording.

Step 4:Scan and confirm the saved result

Choose Scan and wait for the image to appear. Inspect the edges, orientation and legibility before accepting it.

If you selected a folder, open that folder and check the saved file. If you selected an app, use that app’s save controls as needed. The source shows a completed scan image, but does not demonstrate reopening a saved file from a named folder.

The HP app is a separate option

The connection recording also adds the printer in the official HP app from the Mac App Store. That is an alternative app workflow; it is not required merely to follow the macOS scanner steps above.

If the printer is absent, first check its network connection and that the correct device is selected. Do not adopt the source’s abrupt unplugging or network reset as a routine step, and never interrupt a firmware update.
