Choose the task and its connection requirement
Copying uses the printer’s controls and does not need your iPhone. For the printing and scanning methods shown here, connect the iPhone and printer to the same network first; the HP app is needed for the app-based scan.
This guide follows the recorded iPhone workflow. Windows, Mac and Android instructions are separate, and a working connection should not be reset just to perform these tasks.
Step 1:Make a one-sided copy at the printer
Load plain paper and extend the output tray. Put the original face down on the scanner glass, aligned with the marked top-left corner, then close the scanner lid.
Choose Copy → Document Copy. For the simple copy shown, use one-sided input and output; choose the number of copies, color and matching paper settings. Start Copy and wait for the sheet to be fully released. Compare it with the original.
The 1-to-2-sided setting is a different workflow with prompts for additional originals. It does not mean that one scanned image is automatically duplicated onto both sides.
Step 2:Print an iPhone document or photo
Open the document or photo on the iPhone. In a supporting app, choose Share → Print, select your ENVY and review pages, copies and other offered settings before choosing Print. The existing AirPrint guide gives the dedicated connection checks.
Alternatively, open the HP app, select the printer, choose Print Documents or Print Photos and select your file. Open Print Preview, confirm the paper and output options, then send the job. Wait for the physical print; a preview alone is not a completed print.
Step 3:Scan one or several pages with the HP app
Place the side to be scanned face down on the glass at the marked top-left corner. In the HP app select this printer, open Scan and choose the printer scanner rather than Camera scan.
For several pages, choose the Batch task shown in the supporting iPhone recording before starting. Scan the first page, replace or turn the original, then scan the next. Repeat for each page; the recording shows a three-page preview.
Use Add page or the next-scan control available in your app version. Check every page for orientation, order and completeness, rotating or reordering in the preview as necessary. The original single-page recording describes this add-page option; the supporting recording demonstrates a batch.
Step 4:Save the scan as a PDF and reopen it
Use Share/Save from the completed preview and choose PDF as the file type so the pages stay together. If you compress the file, check that small text remains readable.
On the iPhone, use the sharing options, including View More if needed, then Save to Files. Select a folder and finish saving. Open Files and reopen the document to check its page count and contents.
The primary recording saves its scan; the batch recording shows the three-page result and save choices. Neither substitutes for checking that your own final PDF was saved successfully.
Questions & troubleshooting
The scan preview looks correct, but where is the PDF?
Finish Share/Save, select PDF and choose Save to Files with a destination folder. Then reopen the saved file in Files.
Does copying require the HP app?
No. The one-sided copy in this guide uses the touchscreen and scanner glass. The iPhone scan uses the HP app.
