A little preparation

Before you start

  • A compatible USB printer data cable, Windows computer and applicable HP software; Internet for any needed download.

Use the correct local connection

Have a data-capable USB printer cable that fits the printer’s rear USB port and a suitable computer port. Turn on the printer and load plain paper. The computer may need Internet to download software, but the completed printer connection is local USB.

Use HP’s official exact-model setup/download route or official HP app publisher link. The recording’s claim that this printer’s ordinary Wi-Fi no longer works is unsupported; USB is an alternative local connection.

Step 1:Install before connecting if the installer requests it

Start the applicable Windows printer-software installation. HP’s 3700 manual says to leave the USB cable disconnected until the installer asks. Choose USB on the connection-options screen, connect the cable to the printer’s rear USB port and the computer when prompted, and complete the installation.

The recording plugs in first, then adds a USB printer through the HP app and accepts its driver-install prompt. Already-installed printer software can support plug-and-play detection. If your installer gives a different cable sequence, follow its actual prompt rather than repeatedly reconnecting the cable.

Step 2:Confirm the Windows printer entry

Open Windows Settings → Printers & scanners. If the matching USB printer is absent, choose Add device and select the detected DeskJet. In the HP app, select the intended USB-connected printer rather than a stale wireless entry.

Wait for driver installation to finish. The recording briefly shows a driver error and continues; do not treat an unresolved error as success. Confirm the correct cable, powered printer and matching official driver, then use the applicable HP setup troubleshooting if the error remains.

Step 3:Check an actual print and the task you need

Open a small local document, choose Print, select the correct USB printer, review paper size and send the job. Inspect the completed page. If scanning is needed, test saving a scan separately using the supported HP software.

The source ends after finding the printer in software; it does not demonstrate a completed print or scan in this recording. A dashboard entry therefore is an installation checkpoint, not proof that both tasks work.
