Before you start
- Access to the printer’s control panel while a job is active.
Stop the current operation
A brief press of Cancel—the X button—stops the current printer operation. The recording demonstrates this by starting a copy from the scanner glass and cancelling it twice. It does not demonstrate deleting an entire computer print queue.
Step 1:Press Cancel once
While the unwanted operation is running, briefly press the X-shaped Cancel button and let the printer stop. Do not hold it for the status-report command, pull a moving sheet or disconnect the power just to cancel a normal job.
Step 2:Check whether another queued job starts
Wait for the mechanism to stop before handling the output. Cancelling the current operation does not establish that every job queued by a phone or computer has been removed. If another unwanted job starts, cancel that pending job in the sending device’s print queue as well.
The useful result is that the unwanted operation has stopped. The source reports an immediate stop during its copy demonstration; timing can differ for a print job already processing.
Questions & troubleshooting
Why did printing begin again?
The current operation may have stopped while another job remained queued on the sending device. Check that device’s queue rather than repeatedly restarting the printer.
