A little preparation

Before you start

  • A printer USB data cable suitable for the printer port and your computer.
  • Complete initial printer setup and choose the exact model’s current Windows software on Epson’s support site.

Step 1:Check that USB access is enabled

On the printer open Settings → Printer Setup → PC Connection via USB. Select Enable if it is disabled. Epson explains that Disable restricts non-network printing and scanning over the cable.

Step 2:Install the correct Epson software

On the exact-model support page, check your actual Windows version and download the offered setup package or required driver/scanner software. Run the installer, review its terms and optional information-sharing choices, and confirm the physical setup only when it is complete.

Step 3:Choose the USB connection

Connect the cable securely between the printer and computer when the installer requests it. The source has already attached its cable before reaching Connect via USB; follow your current installer’s timing. Select the USB option and wait for detection.

If it is not detected, confirm the exact model’s package, USB-enabled setting and secure connections. Epson suggests trying a direct computer connection instead of a hub, then another port or cable when needed. A generic USB notification is not enough to establish success.

Step 4:Select the USB printer and print a sample

Finish the required installation, then find the printer in Windows Printers & scanners. The source has a numbered duplicate entry because it has installed several copies; your name need not match that suffix.

Choose the USB-connected entry in a document’s Print dialogue and send one page. Check the output. Keep the USB cable attached for this connection; unplugging it does not switch the job automatically to Wi-Fi.
