A little preparation

Before you start

  • Install the exact model’s Epson scanner driver and Epson Scan 2; a printing-only Windows entry may not supply them.
  • Have a working USB or local-network connection to the selected printer.

Step 1:Place the original against the scanner’s corner mark

Open the document cover. Place the original face-down on the glass and align it with the corner mark, then close the cover gently. Keep the glass clean; do not press forcefully on it.

Step 2:Open Epson Scan 2 and choose the right scanner

Search Windows for Epson Scan 2 and open it. Check the Scanner selection if several printers are installed. Choose Document Mode or Photo Mode to suit the original, then check document size, image type and resolution.

These controls start the scan from the computer. They are separate from configuring the printer panel to send a scan to a computer.

Step 3:Choose the file format, name and destination

Set Image Format to the format you need, such as PDF for a document or JPEG for an image. Check the file name and Folder before scanning. Use the folder selector to choose an accessible destination you can find again.

Step 4:Preview, then scan

Click Preview and inspect the framing and orientation. Adjust the selection or settings if necessary, then click Scan. Leave the original and closed lid in place while the scanner works.

The presenter reports a completed scan and notices that the image is upside down. Check the saved output yourself and rotate or rescan if needed. Preview alone is not the saved final file.

Step 5:Open the saved file

Go to the Folder selected in Epson Scan 2 and open the completed file. Check that the entire document is present and readable. Do this even if the app does not automatically open a folder or image viewer after scanning.

A little extra help

Questions & troubleshooting

Printing works but Epson Scan 2 cannot find the scanner.

Check the exact model’s scanner driver and the Scanner selection, then confirm the intended USB/network connection. A printing-only driver does not prove the scanning component is installed.

Where did the scan go?

The selected Folder in Epson Scan 2 controls the destination. Open that folder and check the file name and format rather than assuming every system saves to the same place.
