Before you start
- Know your current router network name and password. A router label is useful only if those details have not been changed.
- For the app route, install the official Epson Smart Panel app and connect the phone to the intended Wi-Fi network.
Step 1:Choose the panel wizard or the phone app
You need only one setup route. If the printer already has the intended Wi-Fi connection, skip changing it and add the existing printer in Smart Panel. Otherwise the printer’s own screen provides a direct route without installing a phone app.
Step 2:Enter the network details on the printer
From Home select Wi-Fi Setup → Wi-Fi (Recommended), press OK and open Wi-Fi Setup Wizard. Choose your router’s network name. Enter its current password carefully, using the keyboard’s character choices for capitals, numbers and symbols.
Confirm the settings and wait for completion. Epson notes that passwords are case-sensitive. If the network is absent, refresh the list; Other SSIDs lets you enter a known network name. A completion message is the checkpoint before adding the printer on another device.
Step 3:Alternatively, set up with Epson Smart Panel
Open the official app and review its terms and requested permissions. Allow the local-network/nearby-device access needed to discover the printer; the exact prompts depend on the phone’s operating system. On an existing network, select the detected printer and Connect. For a printer not yet set up, choose Set up new product and follow its guided connection conversation.
Confirm the exact product the app finds. If it asks for the printer’s administrator password, supply that device’s current password. When it asks for the router password, supply the current Wi-Fi network password instead. These are separate credentials. Continue until the app reports the connection complete.
Step 4:Check the connection and one real job
The principal recording reports successful app setup after an initial discovery failure. It does not make the connection permanent regardless of later router or password changes. With your phone/computer on the intended network, select this printer and try a small job.
If connection fails, load paper and use Settings → Network Settings → Connection Check to print the network connection report. Follow the reported fault rather than repeatedly reinstalling the app or resetting every printer setting.
Questions & troubleshooting
The app does not find the printer. Must I reinstall it?
Not automatically. First check the intended network and the app’s local-device permissions. The source recovers after an app reinstall and printer restart, but that one result does not establish a universal fix. Use the network report and model-specific troubleshooting.
Can I use WPS instead of entering a password?
If your router supports WPS, Epson provides Wi-Fi Setup → Wi-Fi (Recommended) → Push Button Setup (WPS). Follow the router’s WPS instructions and then the printer’s displayed prompts. Do not guess a button combination for a different printer.
