A little preparation

Before you start

  • A suitable USB printer cable, supported Windows computer and Canon’s official setup software.

Choose the cable connection

Have a suitable printer USB cable and a Windows computer with a matching connection. Turn on the printer. This is a cable between printer and computer, not an Ethernet cable to a router.

The video uses Canon PRINT from Microsoft Store. Its passing reference to MacBook does not make those Windows menus applicable to macOS. Internet access may be needed to obtain setup software even though the printer connection itself is USB.

Step 1:Connect the printer and open the official setup

Fit the printer end of the cable into the rear USB port and connect the other end to the computer without forcing either connector. The source connects the cable before opening Canon PRINT; if the current Canon installer asks you to connect at a particular stage, follow that installer prompt.

Open Canon PRINT. If your printer is already detected, select it. Otherwise choose Add printer. Let the official installer obtain its components and approve only the relevant installation prompts you understand.

Step 2:Select USB connection

Confirm that the printer is on, continue the search and select your printer. When asked for the connection method, choose USB connection. Wait while Canon checks the cable connection and finishes the driver installation.

The source speculates that location permission should always be allowed for USB. That is not a requirement established by this recording; read the current prompt and avoid enabling unrelated permissions just in case.

Step 3:Finish setup and test the intended task

Continue until setup reports completion. Load supported paper with the printable side facing you in the rear tray, fit the guide, extend the output tray and confirm the matching size with Paper Select and OK before sending a test print.

The source reports setup complete at the end but does not demonstrate a final printed page or saved scan. Check that the intended USB printer is selected, send a small job and inspect its result. If it is not detected, check the cable and the current Canon model-specific setup rather than substituting a Wi-Fi reset.
