A little preparation

Before you start

  • Deliberate authorization to clear this printer’s settings and the network details needed to configure it again.

Decide whether an all-settings reset is appropriate

For a network-only initialization, use the related connection guide’s Setup 10 option instead. A full settings reset is not a repair for a paper jam, incompatible cartridge or physical fault. Read the actual error before resetting.

Canon lists two exceptions that are not returned to default: the current print-head position and the certificate-signing request for SSL/TLS. Do not interpret the video’s “full reset” wording as erasing every possible stored state.

Step 1:Choose Setup 17 and confirm

Check that the printer is turned on. Press Setup repeatedly until 17 appears on the LCD. Check the number before proceeding, then press Black or Color to initialize settings.

The recording reports the network connection has gone after confirmation. That is consistent with cleared network settings; it is not evidence that a previous mechanical or print-quality problem has been repaired.

Step 2:Redo the settings you need

Repeat the documented connection setup before using the printer over Wi-Fi again. Select the correct printer in your app, confirm the intended home network and test one intended job. Reconfigure any other settings required for your use.

The source ends without completing that setup or printing a test page. Use the related Wi-Fi guide for the full reconnection sequence rather than assuming the reset itself restores communication.
