Before you start
- Your intended home Wi-Fi name and password, an iPhone with Canon PRINT and the powered-on printer.
Prepare the phone and the intended network
Turn on the printer and wait for printing, cleaning or alignment to finish. Connect your iPhone to the home Wi-Fi network you intend the printer to use, and have that network’s current password available. Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for the recorded phone workflow.
Install Canon PRINT from the official app store and open it. Allow Local Network access when requested so it can discover the printer. The recording also requests location access while using the app during setup. Make your own choices about optional reporting and registration; the narrator’s allegation about selling data is not established here.
Step 1:Start Easy Wireless Connect if setup is needed
For an unconfigured printer or a change of network, use the Wireless connect button, not an unspecified wireless-looking key. Canon describes holding it for about three seconds; its setup guide says release when the Direct icon flashes. Confirm the network icon and two horizontal bars flash in the setup pattern shown in Canon’s linked illustration.
If the LCD shows a different state or an unresolved error, follow that exact setup screen or error first. A flashing power light alone is not proof that wireless setup is ready. Return to Canon PRINT and choose Search or add a printer.
Step 2:Confirm the printer and home network
Select your printer when found. In the recorded iPhone flow, approve the temporary printer-network Join request only after checking it belongs to your printer. Confirm the intended home Wi-Fi name in the app and enter that router network’s password.
This temporary setup connection is not the final home Wi-Fi connection. Let the app transfer the settings; Internet access can be interrupted temporarily during setup. Do not enter a printer administrator password in place of the router’s Wi-Fi password.
Step 3:Confirm connection and send a test job
Wait for Canon PRINT to report completion and show your printer on its Home screen. Return the phone to the intended home Wi-Fi if needed, then send one small print or scan job to check actual communication.
The source recordings report completed connection and display the app’s printer controls. They do not establish a completed test print. Registration choices are separate from confirming whether the printer is reachable.
Optional: clear old network settings and reconnect
With the printer on, press Setup until the LCD shows 10, then press Black or Color. Canon documents this as network initialization. Afterward repeat the Easy Wireless Connect and app steps above; disappearance of the old network indicator is not a completed reconnection.
The reconnect recording begins with this reset, while the dedicated reset recording ends before setup. Their steps belong to this conditional recovery path, not to every ordinary phone installation.
