A little preparation

Before you start

  • Printer and Chromebook on the same network, suitable paper for printing and an original for scanning.

Put both devices on the same network

Turn on the printer and connect it to your intended home Wi-Fi using its setup guide. Connect and sign in to the Chromebook on that same network. The source assumes printer Wi-Fi setup is already complete; the Canon PRINT mention is only a brief pointer.

Load and register suitable paper before a print: rear tray, printable side facing you, guide gently fitted, output extended and matching size confirmed with Paper Select and OK.

Step 1:Save the correct printer in ChromeOS

Search the Launcher for printer settings, as in the source, or open Settings, Device, Printers and scanners, then Print. Under Other available printers, choose Save next to your matching Canon printer. Confirm it appears among saved printers.

Google notes that ChromeOS checks compatibility while adding a printer. If a managed school or work Chromebook prevents changes, contact its administrator instead of inventing a driver or bypassing policy.

Step 2:Choose the printer as the document destination

Open the intended page or document and use Print or Ctrl+P. Open Destination, choose See more if necessary, and select your Canon printer. Check paper size, layout and copies, then print one test page.

The recording submits its job and narrates the start of printing; this is not an independently inspected finished-page test. Check your output for the intended content and orientation.

Step 3:Scan and locate the saved file

Put the document face down against the scanner glass’s alignment mark and close the lid gently. Open the ChromeOS Scan app from the Launcher, select the matching scanner and choose your file type and Scan to destination. Set page size, colour and resolution as needed.

Choose Scan and keep the original still. When it finishes, use Show in folder or Show file location to open the saved output and check it. Google supplies that saved-file completion; the video opens the scanner interface but does not demonstrate a completed saved scan.
