A little preparation

Before you start

  • Printer already joined to the router and Mac on the same reachable local network. This guide follows the source’s wireless Epson-driver route.

Step 1:Choose the correct macOS download

Open Epson’s exact XP-2205 support page and select your macOS version manually. Alternatively, start from Epson Setup Navi at epson.sn/2200 as the source does. Download the software offered for that version; automatic operating-system detection is not always correct.

Step 2:Run Epson’s installer and permit discovery

Open the genuine Epson installer and approve the requested installation only after checking its source. Review the license and optional data-sharing choices. Allow local-network access for the Epson installer so it can find the printer, then select the XP-2205/XP-2200 Series device it discovers.

Choose the printer and scanner components you need, such as the Epson scanner driver and available ScanSmart software, and let them install. The source’s optional registration and shopping screens are not required printing steps.

Step 3:Add the matching printer driver

When prompted, open Printers & Scanners from System Settings; older macOS releases call this System Preferences. Choose Add Printer, Scanner or Fax, or the older plus button. Select your Epson printer from the list.

For the Epson-driver route shown, choose the installed Epson XP-2200 Series software in the Use field, then Add. If the matching driver is unavailable, confirm that Epson offers and has installed it for your macOS version rather than selecting another model’s driver. Return to the installer and finish.

Step 4:Check a print and the scanner separately

Open a small document, choose Print and select the newly added printer. Load paper and check the output. If you installed scanning software, open it and confirm the same printer can be selected before scanning an original.

The source completes adding the printer but does not demonstrate every print and scan function. These checks establish the result on your own Mac.

A little extra help

Questions & troubleshooting

The Mac cannot find the printer. What should I check first?

Confirm the printer and Mac are on the same reachable network. On macOS 15 Sequoia, Epson documents System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network: enable access for the affected Epson app if it was denied.

Is Wi-Fi the only way to use this printer with a Mac?

No. This article follows the wireless source workflow; the manual also documents USB. The source’s suggestion that no other route exists is not adopted.

Should I choose a different Epson model in Use?

No. Select the driver matching this product and your macOS version. Check the exact Epson support download if it is missing.
