A little preparation

Before you start

  • Have flat supported paper ready and check its actual size.

Step 1:Raise the rear paper support

Open the feeder guard, extend the rear paper support and tilt it back. Slide the blue edge guide to the left so the paper can fit. The source points out that the guide may initially be near the middle.

Step 2:Place the paper against the right side

Load the sheets upright against the right side of the rear feeder, printable side facing up. Keep the stack below the triangular fill mark. Slide the blue guide to the paper’s left edge so the stack stays straight without being squeezed.

Step 3:Close the guard and extend the output tray

Return the feeder guard to its normal position and slide out the front output tray. Check that the rear support holds the paper and that the stack remains straight.

Step 4:Check the job’s paper size

Select the actual loaded size and paper type when printing. The source demonstrates the loaded feeder rather than a completed print, so use your next intended job to confirm feeding. If the paper sits crookedly, reposition it and the guide before starting.

Questions & troubleshooting

Should I centre the stack in this printer?

For this XP-2205 procedure, Epson specifies loading against the right side and bringing the edge guide to the opposite edge. Do not copy the centred loading instructions from a different printer.

Does the A4 mark tell me the stack height?

Use the fill mark on the edge guide to limit the stack. A paper-size marking is not a reason to force paper farther into the feeder.
