Before you start
- Use the supported Epson driver for your exact model on Windows, with the printer already connected. This is not a Mac menu tutorial.
- Choose suitable inkjet paper and know its actual size and media type. Borderless availability depends on the selected paper combination.
Step 1:Match the loaded paper and printer registration
Load paper in the rear feeder with its printable side up and the guides against the edges. Keep the output area clear. Register the same size and type on the printer: Settings → Printer Setup → Paper Source Settings → Paper Setting.
Choose a media description that matches the actual paper. Selecting glossy merely because it sounds better does not turn plain paper into photo paper.
Step 2:Review the Windows photo print settings
- Open the photo in its Windows application and choose Print, or press Ctrl+P. Select the correct Epson printer.
- Match paper size and type to the physical sheet and printer registration. Set portrait or landscape to suit the image.
- Review photo size, margins and fit/crop behaviour in the preview. Do not enlarge a small image to fill a page without checking the resulting composition.
- Open More settings or the Epson driver’s preferences. Select the desired available quality, such as High, then confirm OK. Quality and colour-enhancement labels vary with driver and media.
The presenter recommends High or a vivid option. This guide does not call one setting universally best: a vivid colour treatment changes rendering and may not suit every photograph.
Step 3:Enable borderless only when you want edge-to-edge output
In the source Windows dialogue, More settings contains Borderless printing: set it to On and confirm. In the Epson driver layout, the equivalent choice is Borderless on the Main tab. For a browser PDF that hides those controls, choose Print using system dialog, then open the driver settings.
If Borderless is unavailable, choose a supported paper size/type and check conflicting layout options. Do not force an unsupported combination or assume every PDF can retain its complete edge content without margins.
Step 4:Print one sample and inspect it
Confirm the dialogue, choose Print and wait for the sheet. Check size, crop, colour and unwanted margins before sending more copies. The source recordings explain settings; they do not provide a controlled quality comparison or prove that these choices repair missing nozzles.
If the image contains missing colour lines, use a nozzle check. If lines are misaligned, use the appropriate alignment procedure. Increasing quality cannot replace maintenance for a confirmed fault.
Questions & troubleshooting
Why is Borderless greyed out or missing?
The chosen driver, paper size/type or another layout option may not support it. Use the applicable Epson driver and a supported media combination; the manual lists borderless limits.
Why did the edges of my photo disappear?
Borderless printing expands the image slightly and crops the excess. Reduce expansion in the Epson Borderless Settings or use a bordered layout when retaining every edge matters.
Should I choose glossy paper type for better output on plain paper?
No. Match the setting to the actual media. An inaccurate paper type is not a quality upgrade.
Are the same menus available on a Mac?
This source shows Windows. Mac drivers use different controls, so this article does not transfer the Windows menu names to macOS.
