Before you start
- The HL-L2445DW already reachable from the iPhone in Brother Mobile Connect.
- An internet connection, uninterrupted printer power and the current administrator password.
- Time to keep the app open through the update; do not start while a print job is running.
Prepare before starting
The source uses an iPhone and Brother Mobile Connect. It does not establish identical screens on every device. Use the update offered for your actual printer; do not copy a version number from an older recording.
Step 1:Open the printer’s Firmware Version entry
Open Brother Mobile Connect and tap the HL-L2445DW entry at the top. In the source, Firmware Version opens a Firmware Update page that says an update is available. Read that page and choose Update when ready.
Step 2:Enter the current administrator password
Use your current printer administrator password. If it has never been changed, use the Pwd value on your own printer’s rear label. The source’s first update prompts the presenter to set a new administrator password before continuing; follow that request if it appears and save the new password securely.
A password already changed by you or another administrator replaces the label’s default. Do not use the Wi-Fi password or a password visible in a video.
Step 3:Keep the app open while the printer updates
Keep the update screen open and follow its progress instructions. The source’s printer displays Program Updating and later restarts. Wait for the completion indication and the printer’s ready state before sending another job.
A flashing Wi-Fi indicator alone does not identify an update; read the LCD and the update page together. Do not disconnect the network or power just because the process takes longer than the recorded estimate.
Step 4:Check the updated printer
Return to the printer entry and Firmware Version after completion. Check the displayed version/status and that the printer is reachable again. Brother also provides the exact-model firmware download page below; no particular version is promised by this guide.
If an actual recovery message appears, follow Brother’s linked recovery instructions for that message. They use a computer and USB connection with the correct firmware tool; an unrelated Factory Reset is not that recovery procedure.
Questions & troubleshooting
The label password is refused.
Use the current administrator password if it was changed. Check with the printer’s administrator; the Wi-Fi password is different.
Should I turn it off if the estimated time has passed?
No. Keep power connected while an update is active and read its actual progress or error message. Follow Brother’s specific recovery guidance if it reports a failed update.
Does the flashing Wi-Fi light prove firmware is updating?
No. The source itself notes that blinking has other meanings. Use Program Updating or the app’s update progress as the relevant context.
