Choose the feeder or the glass
Complete printer setup in the official HP app on Windows and select the correct printer. Use the document feeder for a neat stack of supported document paper; remove staples, clips and other attached objects. Do not put photographs in the feeder.
For a photo, fragile original or a single page needing careful placement, use the scanner glass. Both fdw models have a flatbed and duplex-capable document feeder. That capability is checked in HP’s exact-model specifications, not inferred from the source’s broad LaserJet name.
Step 1:Load the chosen scan source
For the feeder, extend its output support, place the original pages print-side up until the printer detects them, and move the guides to the edges without bending the stack. Keep the pages straight.
For the flatbed, lift the lid, place the side to scan face down at the rear-left alignment mark and close the lid. Only that side is scanned; turn it manually when adding the reverse.
Step 2:Match the app source to the originals
Open Scan in the Windows HP app. Select Document feeder or Scanner glass to match where you placed the pages. Choose the document preset, actual page size and a suitable resolution.
For the feeder, select Two-sided only when you need both sides. If a batch contains single-sided sheets as well, inspect the blank reverse images afterward. The source uses a mixed batch; selecting duplex does not know which pages you intend to keep.
Step 3:Scan, straighten and add pages as needed
Start Scan and wait for every sheet to finish. Inspect the resulting pages for clipping, skew, orientation and order. Correct the preview where the app offers the appropriate editing control; otherwise straighten the originals and rescan.
Delete only pages you have checked are unwanted blanks. To extend the same document, choose Add, load the next originals, recheck the source/settings and scan again. For the flatbed, replace or turn the original for every additional scan.
Step 4:Save the page collection as one PDF
Choose Save, select Basic PDF or the ordinary PDF option offered, and enter a useful filename. Complete the Windows save dialog by choosing a folder and saving the file.
Open the saved PDF and check its page count, order and content. The source describes this final check; perform it yourself rather than assuming that an on-screen page collection is already a saved file. This workflow creates one PDF, not separate PDFs for each sheet.
Use resolution for the task
HP lists higher maximum optical resolution for the flatbed than for the feeder on these models. That does not mean every feeder scan is unusably poor. Choose a resolution that makes the content readable and inspect the result; feeder skew can also come from loading.
The recordings use Windows. App controls on a phone or Mac may differ, so this article does not promise the same dashboard on every device.
