Before you start
- An idle Brother HL-L2445DW with access to its LCD controls.
What this setting changes
The Sleep Time setting delays entry into Sleep Mode after the printer becomes idle. A new print job resets the countdown. Brother documents a maximum of 50 minutes for this model.
Step 1:Open the Sleep Time setting
Use the up/down buttons beside the LCD to select General Setup, then press OK. Select Ecology → OK, then Sleep Time → OK. Read each menu label before confirming.
Step 2:Choose and save the number of minutes
Use up/down to select the idle time you want, up to 50 minutes. Press Go to apply it, as specified in Brother’s instructions. You do not need to reproduce the source’s unclear repeated confirmation sequence.
Step 3:Check the saved countdown
Reopen General Setup → Ecology → Sleep Time and check that the chosen number remains. Return to the normal screen. The printer can still enter Sleep and later Deep Sleep when idle.
A received print job or a control-panel button should wake this model from Deep Sleep. If a job stays queued, first check that the intended printer is selected and still reachable; extending the timer does not establish a network repair.
Questions & troubleshooting
Can I switch Deep Sleep off?
Brother’s instructions say Deep Sleep cannot be disabled. This guide changes the waiting period before Sleep Mode.
Does the printer need a reset?
No reset is part of changing Sleep Time. The source mentions Auto Power Off, but that is a separate setting and is not needed for this procedure.
The printer still sleeps after the change.
That is expected after its idle countdown. Recheck the saved minutes; Sleep Time is not a permanent on/off switch for sleep.
