Before you start
- Use Epson Smart Panel on a supported iPhone or Android device. Epson’s XP-2205 support page links the official app.
- The printer should be powered on and already connected to the app. This is an ink-status check, not a Wi-Fi setup procedure.
Step 1:Select the connected printer
Open Epson Smart Panel and check that the selected device is your XP-2205. If it is not yet added, finish the app’s printer setup first. Do not read another saved printer’s ink bars.
The source title uses XP-2200 family wording, but the presenter and original printer label identify XP-2205. This article keeps that exact model scope.
Step 2:Open the printer’s status and ink display
On the app’s main printer screen, open the printer settings/status area at the top where the ink indicators are shown. Read the separate black and colour bars and any accompanying low-ink or replacement message.
The demonstration’s black estimate is lower than its colour estimates. Your values will differ; there is no fixed “correct” amount to copy from the video. App arrangement can also vary with version.
Step 3:Use the estimate with the actual printer message
Ink levels shown in software are approximate. A low estimate lets you plan for the correct regional replacement cartridge; it is not a precise remaining-page count. Epson distinguishes a low-ink warning from the point when replacement is required.
If a colour is reported as expended or the printer asks for replacement, use the model’s cartridge-replacement instructions and its stated cartridge identification. This short status demonstration does not establish a cartridge number or teach removal.
Questions & troubleshooting
Why can I not see the XP-2205 in the app?
Check that you have selected the correct printer and completed Smart Panel connection setup. The source assumes an already connected printer; it does not resolve discovery failures.
Does a low bar mean I must replace the cartridge immediately?
A low estimate and an expended-cartridge requirement are different states. Read the printer’s actual message and prepare the correct replacement when low; follow the replacement prompt when required.
Is the displayed percentage exact?
No. Treat software ink levels as approximate and avoid predicting an exact number of pages from the bars.
