A little preparation

Before you start

  • A Brother HL-L2445DW with access to its control panel.
  • Your intended Wi-Fi name and password, and a plan to reconnect the printer afterwards.

Check what this reset changes

If the printer works on another device, first check that your device is using the same network and correct printer entry. Do not erase a working connection simply to add another phone or Mac.

The source uses HL-L2445DW. Its Network Reset action is separate from Machine Reset and Factory Reset. Unplug interface cables before the reset, as Brother directs; keep the power cable connected.

Step 1:Select Network Reset in Initial Setup

  • Use the plus and minus buttons to find Initial Setup, then press OK.
  • Select Reset and press OK.
  • Select Network Reset and press OK. Check the full option name before confirming.

Step 2:Confirm the reset and restart

At the confirmation screen, select Reset. Confirm the restart when prompted and wait for the machine to finish rebooting. In this recording the down/minus selection confirms Reset and then Yes; follow the labels on your LCD rather than pressing through a different prompt.

Step 3:Set up the intended network again

An old app entry may now be unavailable because its saved connection has been removed. Open Brother Mobile Connect, choose Add a machine and select the option for a machine not connected to Wi-Fi or wired LAN. Follow the related HL-L2445DW Wi-Fi guide to supply the intended network and finish registration.

The reset video stops before that new Wi-Fi setup. After reconnecting, check for a steadily lit Wi-Fi indicator and that the app reaches the printer from your normal home network. Reset completion by itself does not prove the original connection problem is fixed.

Questions & troubleshooting

Will this recover a forgotten administrator password?

No. Brother says Network Reset leaves that password unchanged. Use the exact model’s password support instructions for that separate problem.

The old printer entry is offline after the reset.

That is consistent with deleting its network configuration. Complete Wi-Fi setup again, then select the reachable printer entry. Removing an app entry alone does not reconnect the printer.

Can I use Machine Reset instead?

No. Brother documents that Machine Reset retains network and security settings. The Network Reset option is the one used here.
